Supporting a Noble Cause: The Metro Rod/Plumb Team’s Skydiving Adventure for White Lodge
On behalf of everyone at White Lodge, including staff, families, and those they support, a huge congratulations is in order for the incredible Metro Rod/Plumb team, who successfully completed their spectacular White Lodge Skydive on 17 May 2025. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the team’s courage, determination, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
A Leap of Faith for a Great Cause
Twelve fearless skydivers from across the UK, ranging from Dundee to the South, bravely took on the challenge of a 15,000 ft tandem jump to support White Lodge. This extraordinary feat was not only about the adrenaline rush but also about the purpose behind it – to make a significant impact on the lives of those supported by White Lodge. Every heart-pounding free-fall brought the team closer to achieving their goal.
Exceeding Fundraising Expectations
The team’s determination and courage paid off, as they not only completed the skydiving challenge but also smashed their fundraising target, raising a phenomenal total of £13,027, including Gift Aid. This impressive amount is more than just a statistic – it’s a lifeline for those who rely on the services provided by White Lodge.
A Personal Story of Inspiration
Sara, a proud MetroPlumb team member and mother, shared her personal story and motivation for participating in the skydiving event. Her daughter, who has Down’s Syndrome, Autism, and severe special needs, has been part of the White Lodge family since she was a baby. Sara’s heartfelt message highlights the importance of White Lodge and the impact it has on families with special needs children.

Making a Lasting Impact
The generous donations raised by the Metro Rod/Plumb team will have a lasting impact on the lives of those supported by White Lodge. The funds will enable the organization to continue providing vital services, including holiday schemes, weekend care, specialist facilities, and social opportunities for families with special needs children. Specifically, the £13,027 raised will support the delivery of three 12-week art courses for 10 adults living with physical disabilities and neurodiversity, as well as provide all necessary materials and supplies for each session.
A Day to Remember
Mike Hey, Head of Fundraising and Marketing at White Lodge, expressed his gratitude and admiration for the Metro Rod/Plumb team, stating, “It was a real privilege to meet you guys on that glorious Saturday morning in Salisbury. I don’t think White Lodge has ever been represented before by a group from all corners of the UK, in one place. It was brilliant to speak to you before and after your leaps of faith and get your reactions. What a great team you are! Full of spirit, camaraderie, and an amazing sense of community. Thank you so much for making a real difference to White Lodge.”
