Meet Rachel, the Award-Winning Spanish Teacher
Rachel is a highly acclaimed teacher with a passion for sharing her love of Spanish with students of all ages. With over 8 years of experience teaching Spanish in the Glasgow area, she has established herself as a leading expert in language education. Her journey began with an honors degree in Economics from Glasgow University, followed by a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in Seville.
Her extensive experience living and working in Bolivia, where she spent 9 years immersed in the Spanish language and culture, has given her a unique understanding of the language and its nuances. During her time in Bolivia, Rachel worked with children and families in a local community project, supporting them through education, health, sports, and community work. This experience not only honed her language skills but also deepened her understanding of the importance of community and social support.
Rachel’s Teaching Career and Awards
Upon her return to the UK in 2011, Rachel dedicated 7 years to working with Glasgow Women’s Aid, supporting children and young people who had experienced domestic abuse. She also volunteered at the Glasgow City Mission, working with women who faced homelessness, addiction, isolation, and mental health difficulties. In 2017, she began teaching Spanish to children aged 0-16 with La Jolie Ronde and currently teaches over 160 children per week in toddler classes, after-school, and weekend clubs.
In 2018, Rachel expanded her teaching to include adult classes, and she now teaches Beginners, Improvers, Intermediate, and Advanced classes to over 80 learners each week in Busby. Her dedication and expertise have earned her numerous awards, including the ‘Solopreneur’ award, ‘Remarkable Achievement’ award, and ‘Acing Adversity’ award, among others. These accolades are a testament to her hard work and commitment to providing high-quality language education.
