Edward develops a love of Shakespeare, thanks to Kumon

Unlocking Academic Potential: Edward’s Journey with Kumon

At just 13 years old, Edward has achieved a remarkable milestone by completing the Kumon English Programme at the Kumon Witney and Carterton Study Centre, where he has been studying for the past five years. This accomplishment is a testament to his dedication and the effectiveness of the Kumon Method of Learning, which emphasizes the development of confidence and independent learning skills.

Edward’s journey with Kumon began when he was 8 years old, and he recalls finding the programmes challenging at first. However, with perseverance and the support of his Instructors, he has grown into a confident and enthusiastic learner. “I remember that I found the Kumon programmes challenging when I started, and to think I’ve now completed the entire English Programme, makes me feel very proud and happy!” Edward exclaims.

Developing a Love for Learning

The Kumon English Programme has not only helped Edward develop a deeper understanding of various texts, including the works of Shakespeare, but has also introduced him to advanced concepts such as figurative language, including metaphors, similes, and symbols. This exposure has sparked a genuine interest in learning, and Edward now enjoys exploring the world of literature. “I’ve enjoyed learning about Shakespeare and his plays. It’s fun because he pops up a lot at school and now I know the text of his most famous work,” he says.

Edward’s experience with Kumon has also had a positive impact on his academic performance at school. He has been consistently achieving higher grades than the class average, a testament to the effectiveness of the Kumon Method in helping students develop a strong foundation in English. “At school, I’ve been getting higher than the class average,” Edward notes, attributing his success to the skills and knowledge he has acquired through Kumon.

A Supportive Learning Environment

Edward’s success can be attributed, in part, to the supportive learning environment provided by the Kumon Witney and Carterton Study Centre. The centre’s Instructors have played a significant role in helping Edward overcome challenges and stay motivated. “I like that there is help available if ever I’m stuck on something. I like that Kumon covers subjects slower than school and I enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the centre so you can focus,” Edward explains. The recognition and awards he has received for his achievements have also served as a powerful motivator, encouraging him to continue striving for excellence.

Edward’s father, Guy, has witnessed the positive impact of Kumon on his son’s academic confidence and performance. “One of my friends told me that Kumon will help my children improve their maths and English, and now Edward is top of his class. He has a lot more confidence thanks to Kumon and the help of his Instructors who were there when we needed them,” Guy says, highlighting the value of the Kumon programme in helping students achieve their full potential.

Looking to the Future

With his completion of the Kumon English Programme, Edward has set his sights on future academic and professional goals. He aspires to become a doctor, recognizing the importance of strong academic foundations in achieving success. “I would like to be a doctor so I can help people. Kumon has helped me achieve the good grades I’ll need,” Edward says, demonstrating a clear understanding of the relationship between his current efforts and future aspirations.

Edward’s story serves as a powerful example of how the Kumon Method of Learning can help students unlock their academic potential and develop a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. By providing a supportive and structured environment, Kumon helps students build confidence, independence, and a strong foundation for future success.
