The Fight Against Loneliness in West Sussex: A Personal Journey
As a Live-In Care Consultant with Promedica24, my journey into the world of community engagement and the battle against loneliness began with the Glamour Club. My husband Chris met Janice Moth, the founder, while networking, and we were immediately drawn to the cause—companioning with purpose and addressing the core issue of isolation through the Glamour Club and its charity, ItSocksToBeLonely.
Promedica24 West Sussex is now going into its fifth year of being a sponsor, and since joining the business in 2021, I’ve been able to witness first-hand how it has shaped and improved the lives not just of regular attendees, but also of supporters and staff. The Glamour Club has not only maintained its popularity but has garnered recognition from high-profile figures, including Tim Loughton, MP for East Worthing and Shoreham, the Mayors of Worthing, and the ever-charismatic Worthing Town Cryer, Bob Smytherman.
Shaping Services, Raising Awareness, and Expanding Impact
What personally attracted me to the Glamour Club ties directly into my role as a Live-In Care Consultant. My husband Chris and I actively volunteer at every event, finding immense satisfaction in witnessing the positive impact on members. It’s not just about promoting Promedica24’s services; it’s about being part of a movement that addresses the profound need for human connection.
Since becoming involved, the Glamour Club has not only maintained its popularity but has garnered recognition from high-profile figures, including Tim Loughton, MP for East Worthing and Shoreham, the Mayors of Worthing, and the ever-charismatic Worthing Town Cryer, Bob Smytherman. Media coverage has become regular, with features in the Worthing Herald and interviews on BBC Radio Sussex.
A Movement, Not Just an Event
Volunteering in the community has altered our approach to work with Promedica24. We see firsthand the challenges faced by those struggling with loneliness, allowing us to tailor our services to meet their unique needs. Raising awareness through community engagement has not only benefited our business but has also enriched our personal lives. Building trust and establishing a caring reputation are not just business goals; they are personal missions that align with the ethos of Promedica24.
Live-in care, we believe, plays a crucial role in supporting individuals to engage with organisations like the Glamour Club. Our unique approach fosters a trusting relationship between carers and the people they support, creating an environment where individuals feel supported, understood, and encouraged to participate in community activities. While we maintain an exclusive sponsorship arrangement, the goal is to expand this model across West Sussex, making a lasting impact on the lives of those grappling with loneliness.
