Introduction to Rachel, a Passionate Spanish Teacher
Rachel is an award-winning teacher with a remarkable background in teaching Spanish to children and adults in the Glasgow area. With over 8 years of experience, she has developed a unique approach to language learning, making it fun and interactive for all ages. Born and raised in Glasgow, Rachel pursued an honors degree in Economics from Glasgow University, laying the foundation for her future endeavors.
Her journey took a significant turn when she moved to Seville to obtain her certificate in ‘Teaching English as a Foreign Language’ (TEFL). This experience not only broadened her teaching skills but also deepened her understanding of language acquisition. Subsequently, she spent 9 years in Bolivia, where she immersed herself in the Spanish language and culture, working with children and families in a local community project.
Rachel’s Teaching Career and Awards
Upon returning to the UK in 2011, Rachel dedicated 7 years to working with Glasgow Women’s Aid, supporting children and young people affected by domestic abuse. She also volunteered at the Glasgow City Mission, helping women struggling with homelessness, addiction, isolation, and mental health issues. In 2017, she began teaching Spanish to children aged 0-16 with La Jolie Ronde and currently teaches over 160 children weekly in toddler classes, after-school, and weekend clubs.
Rachel’s teaching expertise extends to adults as well, with classes ranging from Beginners to Advanced levels, catering to over 80 learners weekly in Busby. Her commitment to language learning has earned her numerous awards, including the ‘Solopreneur’ award (Everywoman – Dec 2024), Solopreneur Award (Woman Who – Oct 2024), and the ‘Remarkable Achievement’ award (What’s on 4 Kids – Nov 2023).
Additionally, she has received the ‘Acing Adversity’ award at the Single Mums’ Business Network Awards in Gloucester (Nov 2022), ‘Against All Odds’ at the Family Network Awards in Surrey (March 2023), and ‘Franchisee of the Year’ at the Business Success Awards in Birmingham (June 2023). These accolades demonstrate her dedication to teaching and her ability to make a positive impact on her students’ lives.

Having learned Spanish from scratch in Bolivia, she understands the challenges adult beginners face and is well-equipped to support them.
