The Uckfield branch of estate agency franchise Martin & Co has been resold, with David Arnold acquiring the East Sussex territory as part of the network operated by The Property Franchise Group (TPFG).
The office, based in Uckfield, will continue operating under the Martin & Co brand following the resale. Arnold decided to purchase the franchise after speaking with several existing franchise owners within the TPFG network.
“I already knew other Franchise Owners within The Property Franchise Group and had heard consistently good things about what it’s like to be part of their network,” Arnold said. “They spoke highly of the support, training, systems and ongoing guidance that come with being a Franchise Owner, which made the prospect feel reliable and far less risky than going it alone.”
Arnold said the reputation and structure of the Martin & Co franchise played a significant role in his decision to enter the property sector through acquisition rather than starting independently.
“Martin & Co stands out in the residential lettings sector and quite simply, I would never have entered the property industry without the backing of a reputable franchise like this,” he explained. “The model provides essential tools, marketing resources, compliance support and a network of fellow owners to learn from, which gave me the confidence to take the step and acquire the Uckfield territory.”
The acquisition is also part of Arnold’s longer-term growth ambitions, with plans to build a multi-office portfolio across the South East of England.
“This acquisition fits perfectly into my longer-term plans as the foundation for meaningful growth in the sector,” he said. “My vision is to build a multi-office portfolio under the Martin & Co brand, leveraging TPFG’s support systems and network to identify and integrate complementary opportunities, whether through further franchise resales, independent agency acquisitions or organic growth.”
Prior to entering the property sector, Arnold built his career in corporate management within regulated industries, gaining experience in leadership, compliance, operational efficiency and revenue growth. He believes this background will prove valuable in navigating an increasingly regulated property market.
Arnold said landlords working with the branch can expect proactive compliance checks, up-to-date safety certification management, robust tenant referencing and clear tenancy agreements designed to minimise legal and financial risk. Tenants will benefit from compliant homes, transparent processes and fair dispute resolution, while vendors will receive thorough due diligence and evidence-based valuations to support successful transactions.
The existing team at the Uckfield office will remain in place following the transition, continuing to serve landlords, tenants and vendors across Uckfield, Lewes, Heathfield and surrounding areas.
Arnold emphasised the importance of maintaining local knowledge and service continuity.
