Chili’s Seeks Franchise Partners for UK Expansion

US casual-dining brand Chili’s is targeting a major expansion into the UK and is actively seeking franchise partners to develop the concept across the market.

The move signals a potential shake-up in the UK casual dining sector, with the well-established American restaurant chain looking to introduce its lively dining concept and broad menu offering to British consumers.

Established Global Brand Eyes UK Growth

Founded in Texas in 1975, Chili’s has grown into one of the world’s most recognisable casual dining brands. Today the chain is owned by Brinker International and serves more than one million customers worldwide every day through hundreds of restaurants.

The brand is known for its energetic American-style dining experience and menu inspired by Southwestern and Texan flavours, alongside classic casual dining favourites designed to appeal to a wide audience.

According to information released by The Franchising Centre, the company is now exploring partnerships with experienced operators to bring the concept to locations across the UK.

Flexible Restaurant Formats for Franchise Partners

Chili’s franchise partners will be able to operate restaurants in a variety of formats, with outlet sizes ranging from approximately 100 to 400 square metres. This flexibility is designed to help the brand adapt to a range of high-street, leisure park, and shopping centre locations.

The company has also developed a technology platform aimed at enhancing customer engagement, enabling operators to improve communication with guests while building long-term loyalty through digital marketing and promotions.

Strong Franchise Support Structure

Prospective franchisees will benefit from the backing of an international support network, including a global team of more than 20 specialists who assist with brand development, operational standards, and market expansion.

Support includes:

  • Ongoing menu innovation and product development
  • National and local marketing campaigns
  • Promotional platforms and branding updates
  • Operational guidance and training

Importantly, while the core menu remains consistent with the brand’s identity, franchise partners are given some flexibility to tailor certain menu items to suit local consumer preferences.

Opportunity in the UK Casual Dining Market

Chili’s entry into the UK franchise market reflects growing interest among international restaurant brands looking to expand through franchising. With strong brand recognition and a proven global model, the company believes the UK presents significant opportunities for experienced hospitality operators.

By partnering with local franchisees, Chili’s aims to establish a network of restaurants capable of delivering its signature American dining experience while adapting to the tastes and expectations of UK customers.

For investors and multi-unit operators, the expansion offers the chance to work with a globally recognised brand entering a new growth phase in the UK hospitality sector.
