Hometyre’s Thrilling Experience at the Goodwood Festival of Speed
We were privileged to be invited to work alongside the mighty Red Bull at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year. This epic 6-day event was an unforgettable experience for our local Hometyre technicians, Mark from West Sussex and Wayne from Shropshire, who had access to all areas at the FOS.
Wayne worked closely with Red Bull in the Cathedral Paddock, meeting the drift athletes and working on an array of incredible vehicles, including Mad Mike’s McLaren. We were lucky enough to see the beauty days before it was revealed to the general public on the Saturday of the Festival of Speed. The vehicle we changed the most tyres on for Red Bull over the weekend was the Lexus RC, with every single lap resulting in a new set of rubber.
A Glimpse into the Action
The tyres on the Lexus RC took a beating, with each lap leaving them in a worn-out state. As expected, the tyres couldn’t withstand the intense driving, with donuts and sharp turns taking a toll on the rubber. See below for the state the tyres came back in after just one lap of the track!
A Unique Experience
Luckily, the rain mostly held off, and there were minimal delays due to weather. The sun shone through, making it a joy to watch the drivers thrash their cars on the infamous Goodwood Hill Climb Circuit. Our team also got to have an access-all-areas walk around the site to check out the other vehicles at the festival, ranging from old classics to brand new reveal cars.
We’ve been present at Goodwood for many years, but each year brings new challenges, new technology, and new experiences for our on-site team.
