ChipsAway Team Members Triumph in London Marathon 2024, Raising Money for The Brain Tumour Charity
Two dedicated members of the ChipsAway Head Office team, Karl Heeley, a ChipsAway technician, and Rebecca de Chair, B2C Group Marketing Manager, recently participated in the prestigious London Marathon to raise awareness and funds for The Brain Tumour Charity. Their remarkable achievement not only demonstrates their personal commitment to a worthy cause but also showcases the values of perseverance and dedication that are at the heart of the ChipsAway community.
A Personal Challenge for a Worthy Cause
Karl, who secured his spot in the marathon through a ‘good-for-age’ entry after completing a half marathon in an impressive 1:21, and Rebecca, who was lucky enough to get a ballot place after years of trying, decided to join forces and use their places to fundraise together for The Brain Tumour Charity. This charity is dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by brain tumours and cancer, providing vital services and funding research to improve outcomes and find a cure.
Through their fundraising efforts, Karl and Rebecca have raised over £2,200 for The Brain Tumour Charity, with donations still coming in. This significant amount will contribute to the charity’s mission to support those affected by brain tumours and drive research forward. Their participation in the marathon and fundraising campaign demonstrates the power of individual actions in making a difference in the lives of others.
An Inspiring Achievement
Reflecting on their experience, Rebecca noted, “The crowds were absolutely incredible; everyone was so positive – willing us on to complete the gruelling 26.2 mile course. We loved every single minute of the day – smiling our way around from start to finish!” Karl added, “We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way with donations, good luck messages, and encouragement – it has been truly inspirational! Every contribution, whether big or small, has played a vital role in bringing hope to individuals and families affected by brain tumours, and we are both extremely grateful for that.”
ChipsAway General Manager, Jackie Francis, expressed her pride in Karl and Rebecca’s achievement, stating, “We are incredibly proud of Karl and Rebecca for their remarkable achievement in completing the London Marathon, and their commitment to supporting The Brain Tumour Charity. The fact Karl completed it in just 2 hours 46 minutes, and Becks in 4 hours 3 minutes is remarkable! Their passion, perseverance, and dedication embody the values we hold dear at ChipsAway.”
