Rebecca fondly recalls her early days with Kumon, where she started with manageable amounts of work, completing 10 pages of addition and multiplication problems with excitement. This spark of enthusiasm, combined with the guidance of her Instructor, Kim, ignited her passion for maths. As she progressed through the programme, Rebecca no longer feared difficult equations; instead, she looked forward to the challenge, enjoying the process of learning and overcoming obstacles.
Academic Success and Recognition
Rebecca’s academic success was not only evident in her progress within the Kumon Maths Programme but also in her GCSE and AS level results. Rebecca received a grade 9 in GCSE Maths and an ‘A’ in AS level maths, and she is currently pursuing A level Maths, Further Maths, and Physics. She received multiple Advanced Student Honour Roll awards for progressing to advanced study levels, often one, two, or three years above her equivalent school grade level. Rebecca emphasizes the crucial role her Instructor, Kim, played in her academic success. Kim’s calm and resilient approach to helping Rebecca with tricky maths questions was invaluable. From explaining methods and steps to working through long, difficult questions in Kumon Level O, Kim’s support was always available. Rebecca found that as she progressed to higher levels, her parents, though supportive, were not equipped to help her with the more complex maths questions, making Kim’s guidance even more critical.
Rebecca’s mother, Nicky, also witnessed significant improvements in her daughter’s work and a notable increase in her self-discipline and enjoyment of maths. Impressed by the positive impact Kumon had on Rebecca, Nicky decided to enroll her other children in the programme as well, recognizing the benefits it could bring to their academic development.
