The foundation to shape my future

Meet Alfie: The Student Who’s Found His Path to a Teaching Career

At just twenty years old, University student Alfie White is already making a name for himself in the world of teaching. As a member of the Kings Camps team, Alfie has been able to gain valuable experience and build his confidence in a supportive and fun environment. With ambitions to become a PE Teacher, Alfie is on the right track, and his experience with Kings Camps has played a huge part in shaping his career goals.

Gaining Experience and Building Confidence

Since joining Kings Camps in 2021, Alfie has worked on numerous camps across the UK, including locations in Birmingham, Loughborough, Nottingham, Cambridge, and Portsmouth. By moving around and meeting new people, Alfie has been able to develop his own teaching and coaching style, and has gained a lot of confidence in his abilities. “No matter which camp you go to, it’s a great working environment – all the staff are really good, the kids are brilliant and it’s always fun; to be honest it barely feels like I’m working,” he says.

As a student, Alfie has been able to learn from others, including those with more experience who are already working in schools. He has also had the opportunity to lead his own group and develop his own teaching style, which has been invaluable in his development as a future teacher. “It’s really beneficial to be trusted to lead your own group too, being the coach with that group allows you to stand on your own two feet and has helped me to develop my own teaching and coaching style,” he explains.

Personal Development and Support

During his time with Kings Camps, Alfie has not only learned from others but has also had the opportunity to support and develop others. As an Assistant Site Manager, he has been able to level up and take on new challenges, and has appreciated the emphasis that Kings Camps places on personal development. “I’ve taken a lot from working with others who have varying levels of experience, the staff evaluations especially have been really helpful as I’ve been able to take feedback from that into my university practical assessments and continue to develop outside of Kings,” he says.

Alfie believes that the support and opportunities for development that Kings Camps offers set it apart from other organizations. “A friend of mine has recently joined Kings Camps having worked for other holiday providers previously, and the first thing he said to me was that he felt that there’s way more support and opportunities to develop here,” he explains. With a focus on helping students gain hands-on experience and develop their skills, Kings Camps is an ideal place for those looking to shape their future.
